Scammers
Warning: Bank Phone Call Scams are on the Rise
How to recognize a bank phone scam
The caller claims to be from your bank.
The number on your caller ID may even appear legitimate, but scammers can “spoof” phone numbers to make it look like the call is coming from your bank.
They report suspicious or fraudulent activity.
The caller may say there’s unusual activity on your account or unauthorized access to your online banking. They might even invent a fake “pending charge” to make the story sound convincing.
They ask for sensitive information.
Using the urgency of the situation, the caller may request your online banking credentials, such as your username, password, security question answers, or one-time codes. This is a major warning sign. Time Bank will never call to ask for this information.
They try to take control of your account.
If you share login details, scammers can access your account and change your credentials. Always keep your online and mobile banking information private.
What to do if you receive a suspicious call
Never share personal or banking details.
This includes your Social Security number, debit card number, one-time passcodes, username, password, or answers to security questions.
